Our Heritage

We Have Been Making Dream Homes A Reality For Over 50 Years

In 1965 Brian & Kathleen Passmore opened the doors to B&K Passmore Ltd - we were small with big ambitions....

Proudly serving Yorkshire for over 50 years, in that time we have fully project managed, from design concept through to installation completion, thousands of home improvements covering bathroom and kitchen renovations, home conversions and extensions.

Most recently, at the start of 2021 and just a little over 12 months since first lauched, it was decided, following fantastic success, to expand our More Kitchens offering into the Harrogate location, updating our existing showroom and taking the brand to the North Yorkshire region.

In 2019 it was decided to launch a standalone Kitchen division, separating this offering from within the build division, to sit alongside the More Bathrooms, More Ability and More Build brands.

In 2019 More Kitchens was born with a view to offering our customers a true ‘one stop shop’ for all their home improvement needs, with a company they can trust to deliver on service, experience and quality.

Commenting on the launch, managing director Tony Passmore said:

“We have now become the leading bathroom installer and designer in the region, and after witnessing the firm’s 26% growth in the last 2 years following the expansion of More Bathrooms and More Ability in to the Harrogate area we felt that the next logical step was to move into Kitchens.

In addition to the launch of the More Kitchens divisions we also purchased our third Showroom in Mirfield. A concession location in Whiteleys Garden Centre the quaint and concise space offers a mixture of bathroom, bedroom and kitchen displays. Commenting on the expansion Tony Passmore said:

"Over the past couple of years we've experienced some fantastic growth, first in Leeds and then with the addition of moving in to Harrogate, which is testament to all the staff and the exceptional service they continuously offer. When the space at Whiteleys became available we couldn't let it go - it seemed like the perfect next step in our growth journey."

In 2018, and following the successful acquisition 12-months prior, we expanded our Harrogate Showroom and introduced More Ability to the area, in order to provide a safe and stylish bathroom solution for local residents.

Following extensive renovations the existing 3,000 sqft space now also showcases stylish yet accessible bathrooms, which aim to improve the independence of over 65’s and the less-able.

Commenting on the most recent success, managing director, Tony Passmore, adds

“The Harrogate expansion signifies our desire to provide a fantastic bathing experience to as many Yorkshire customers as possible. We don’t believe any customer should have to sacrifice a stylish design, whatever their bathing or accessibility requirements.”

In 2017 we successfully acquired Charms Bathrooms of Harrogate, a move that sought to save jobs and preserve the 100-year old legacy of the bathroom retail company.

Commenting on the deal, Tony Passmore, said:

“Charms is similarly a family-run brand synonymous with trust, quality and integrity, so the fit into our stable of companies was perfect.

We look forward to bringing over 50 years’ worth of installation expertise to the table – especially for some of Charms’ clientele who may have previously used the company for ‘supply only’ bathroom purchases.”

Rewind back to 2015 and we were celebrating our golden anniversary - in 2015 Passmore’s was 50 years old!

Over the past 5 decades we have exceeded our dreams and aspirations, becoming one of the region’s leading full service home improvement companies. In 2014, whilst clearing out some old files, we came across this bill for some work we carried out when our company first began in 1965.

The works included a full new bathroom suite, in this case Primrose colour (the height of luxury back then!) for a fee of £111 4s 5d.
